robert.gilmour@sko-family-law.co.ukPractice Areas
The current edition of Chambers and Partners HNW recognises Robert's ability, "One of Gilmours huge strengths is his ability to analyse and break down complex issues into logical components." A market source enthuses: "He is brilliant, he is the leading person in the country on surrogacy. He is also brilliant with difficult heavyweight money cases.".
Robert has unique and unrivalled experience in Scotland in surrogacy and ART (artificial reproductive technology), where the Legal 500 note that he 'is the leading expert in Scotland in assisted reproduction.'. His work in this area of law includes advising individuals who are building their family through surrogacy, surrogates and medical professionals. Robert acted in all of the Scottish cases arising from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) legal parenthood audit in 2014.
Robert is also particularly known for his knowledge, experience and judgement in cohabitant claims, having acted for the successful applicant in the only case to have reached the Supreme Court, the ground breaking case of Gow v Grant.
Robert is considered the 'go-to' person in Scotland for novel and/or complex cases- he is wise, bright and pragmatic: skills used in his work as a mediator and FLAGS Family Law Arbitrator.
