Alisdair has more than 25 years experience in resolving disputes in the commercial sphere in rapid and cost effective ways including the use of alternative dispute resolution. His practice focuses mainly on professional negligence claims including those involving solicitors, accountants, insurance brokers, surveyors and construction professionals such as engineers and architects. Accredited in professional negligence by The Law Society of Scotland, he is a ranked lawyer for professional negligence in each of Chambers Legal, Legal 500 and Who's Who legal directories.
With a keen interest in technology he has acted both for and against software firms in insurance related disputes and is part of Brodies' cyber risk team.
He has a unique profile in the Scottish insurance industry, being the first lawyer elected president of the 138-year old Insurance & Actuarial Society of Glasgow, the Chartered Insurance Institute's organisation for the west of Scotland. A member of the Society for Construction Law, the Adjudication Society, he is the Scottish member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers UK wide Professional Negligence Sector Focus Team.
