Ana Stanic is the founder of E&A Law. With over 25 years of experience Ana specialises in providing advice and advocacy services to States, international institutions and energy companies. She is one of the foremost thought leaders concerning legal issues at the intersection of energy, environment, EU law and public international law.In respect of energy & natural resources matters, Ana regularly advises on maritime border disputes and straddling oil and gas reserves, concession agreements to construct large energy infrastructure projects as well as EU and international law issues relating to EIAs concerning large energy projects including nuclear. She has recently advised on price caps, “rouble payments issues” as well as EU and international law issues concerning Nord Stream 2 project and given evidence regarding the same to the EU Parliament’s Social and Economic Committee.Ana also advises on EU law, particularly concerning energy, environment and state aid, and how it relates to international law. She has advised states and companies regarding energy transition projects. She has acted as counsel in investment treaty and commercial arbitrations for the last 20 years concerning energy matters, including gas price reviews. She was appointed a member of the Court of Arbitrators of the PCA in 2019. In June 2022 she was appointed as an arbitrator and sustainability expert by the EU in respect of disputes with third states. In recent years Ana has sat as an arbitrator in international commercial arbitrations. She was appointed as an EU energy law expert in one of the largest ECT cases.Ana has also appeared before the CJEU and has acted as counsel in inter-State cases. Ana has extensive experience in negotiating international agreements on behalf of States, as well as in drafting laws, having negotiated BIT and FTAs on behalf of Slovenian government.
