Tallat is a dedicated lawyer in Reed Smiths global environmental, social and governance (ESG) practice, with over 25 years of experience throughout the UK, EU, Middle East, Africa and the Americas. She is part of the Energy and Natural Resources Group and advises on environmental and social issues in the context of construction, M&A, capital markets, disputes and project finance. Her practice covers multiple sectors, including large infrastructure projects, mining and metals, energy transition, technology, and marine. She has a granular knowledge of international requirements such as the Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, OECD Common Approaches, the Paris Agreement and UN Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to general corporate E&S compliance and permitting, she regularly advises on UK and EU ESG regulations such as the CSRD, EU Deforestation Regulations, CSDDD, Forced Labour, and Methane Regulations.
Tallat is a BSI certified ISO 14001 lead auditor (environmental management systems). She writes and speaks extensively on environmental and social issues around the world. Tallat is recognized for her innovative approaches to resource management such as monetising carbon reductions, voluntary carbon trading, blended sustainable finance, green and blue finance and developing corporate ESG policies. Her business and human rights related mandates include corporate supply chain due diligence and compliance, human rights impact assessments, physical security and modern slavery & human trafficking.
