Sophia is a Partner and Employed Barrister in our Dispute Resolution team. Her practice is UK wide. She specialises in corporate and company law disputes, contentious corporate restructurings and insolvency and banking and pensions litigation. A significant amount of this work is in the energy and financial services sectors, where she supports clients across sectors including oil and gas, banking, pensions, wealth, asset management and private equity.
She has a wealth of experience dealing with corporate and company law disputes, contentious corporate transactional matters including shareholder activism, warranty claims, indemnity claims and issues of contractual interpretation. She also has significant experience in large scale corporate restructurings having acted in a number of schemes of arrangement and capital reductions, including in the $2.7 billion restructuring plan for Premier Oil plc, the heavily contested scheme of arrangement for the same company and the ?2.3 billion scheme of arrangement for Albion Acquisitions Limited. Her experience in pensions litigation involves a number of actions concerning member overpayment, wrongful payment, professional negligence and rectification of trust documents.
Sophia is dual qualified as a Barrister in England & Wales and Scottish Solicitor and Notary Public. She practiced in London and worked offshore as a lawyer for a number of years in Guernsey and later the Cayman Islands where she was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law. She has consistently worked on high value, complex disputes throughout her career. During her career she has acted regularly in matters before the Royal Court of Guernsey, the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands, the English High Court and the Sheriff Courts and Court of Session in Scotland.
