james.hockin@withersworldwide.comPractice Areas
James is dual qualified in New York and England & Wales and advises senior executives and employer clients on all aspects of employment and partnership law.
He assists clients at all stages of their employment relationship, whether it be advising on documentation at the start, addressing issues that arise throughout, or planning exit strategies and negotiating severance packages when coming to an end. As a dual-qualified lawyer, James is often instructed by clients with complex cross-border issues, which he handles with an adept understanding of international issues that often arise.
James is results driven and represents his clients with commitment and care as their adviser, negotiator and when required litigator. He has experience of litigating in the Employment Tribunal, High Court, County Court and Court of Appeal, as well as regularly resolving client disputes via alternative means such as mediation. James provides pragmatic advice, exploring all possible options with his clients to find the best solution for them.
In the past year in particular, James has advised clients on US- and UK-based whistleblowing claims, discrimination claims, and equal pay claims as well as breach of contract and tort based claims.
