Giles heads Freshfields’ IP and Technology group, and co-heads its international data practice. He is particularly active in the tech, consumer and financial institutions sectors, and specialises in cross-border IP, data privacy and cyber security, and e-commerce law. He is an experienced adviser on transactions involving valuable technology, content, brands and data, particularly for international M&A, carve-outs, JVs, licensing and complex commercial and IP agreements. He also advises on all legal issues relating to data, particularly in the context of deals, crises, investigations and new data uses, AI and analytics. Giles is a regular speaker on data and IP issues, is co-leading Freshfields’ generative AI initiatives, and is an editor of Freshfields’ thought leadership on all things tech - Freshfields TQ.
