EJones@kingsleynapley.co.ukPractice Areas
Edward has practised exclusively in the field of criminal law for over 15 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role. He has acted for clients accused of the most serious offences such as murder, manslaughter and rape and always approaches all his cases in a calm, methodical and meticulous manner in order to achieve the best possible outcome for his clients.
Edwards practice predominantly focuses on the sensitive pre-charge stage of criminal litigation and in an expert at litigating criminal cases at all levels of the criminal courts. He has particular expertise in the field of serious crime, including allegations involving offences of a sexual nature. His practice also involves a strong international element. He has acted for clients facing extradition requests from countries all over the globe, including the United States, Australia, Canada, Thailand, Kenya and Colombia. He is an expert in litigating the more complex Part 2 cases which require a strong case to be advanced if a challenge is to be successful. He has over many years of litigating these cases built up an array of international contacts and expert witnesses that he can call upon to assist him with this. Edward is acutely aware of the reputational damage that a criminal allegation can cause, especially to professional clients and those with a public profile, and is co-author of a highly-regarded practitioner text on the subject, Criminal Records, Privacy & The Criminal Justice System: A Practical Handbook, published by Bloomsbury Professional. He has a deep knowledge of the means by which the police can collect and retain an individuals personal data and the means by which an individual can apply to have that personal data deleted from police systems. He is also an expert in dealing with issues arising from the disclosure of personal data on Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) certificates and applying for individuals to be removed from the DBS Barred Lists
