Information about the specialist
Daniel.Toop@penningtonslaw.comPractice Areas
Daniel is head of the Court of Protection team. He specialises in supporting the litigation process, both in clinical negligence and personal injury claims, together with high value gift and complex Court of Protection applications, including what is believed to be the largest gift ever approved by the Court of Protection. Adopting a client-centric focus, Daniel places an emphasis on empowering individuals and encouraging clients and their families to engage in the deputyship process to maximise their independence.
He is highly experienced in establishing and managing complicated deputyships with cross-jurisdictional elements, including Hong Kong, the Isle of Man and Hungary. He also regularly represents the deputy at conferences with counsel and experts in the litigation process as well as attending joint settlement meetings, with both internal and external clinical negligence and personal injury litigation lawyers. When creating personal injury trusts, Daniel frequently works with the litigation solicitors to ensure that the court has all the necessary evidence to be satisfied that the trust is in the clients best interests.
