Colin Russ is an experienced, independent commercial mediator. He has established an excellent reputation for the successful resolution of disputes relating to commercial contracts, shareholder/partnership disputes, professional negligence, construction disputes, real estate and the financial services sector as well as disputes arising from intellectual property rights, insolvency issues and defective cladding claims. Over the last 23 years Colin has built up a thriving, independent commercial mediation practice in the UK. His clients include many of the UK’s leading law firms and he has considerable expertise in high value multi-party mediations, involving complex multi-issue disputes. Originally qualified as a lawyer, Colin practiced as a commercial litigation lawyer for over 20 years, ultimately as Head of Litigation at the Birmingham office of global law firm DLA Piper. After his interest in the mediation process grew, Colin gained his Mediator Accreditation from CEDR and left DLA (as it was then) to set up his mediation practice - Colin David Russ t/a CDR. At the start of COVID-19 pandemic Colin led the way in successfully moving mediation to online with his CDR Remote service for lawyers and their clients. Post-pandemic he continues to lead both remote and in-person mediations.
