Kate has many years of experience advising trustees and employers in relation to all aspects of pensions law. She has advised them on scheme mergers and benefit changes including closure to new entrants and to further accrual. Additionally, Kate has been involved in several liability management exercises to help schemes improve funding levels, often part of journey planning towards transferring schemes to insurers, as well as offering members opportunities to reshape their benefits.
Kate is also involved in advising on GMP equalisation and GMP conversion exercises and reviewing benefit specifications in preparation for scheme buy-ins/buy-outs.
She is experienced in projects to transfer DC benefits from hybrid schemes to master trusts, as well as advising trustees on scheme investments, including asset backed funding arrangements, LDI and pooled investment funds. Kate has also advised a fund provider on charges and governance requirements, and has worked on multi-jurisdictional corporate transactions and with contractors participating in public sector schemes.
