Duncan joined Macnabs as a Consultant in June 2022. He has been qualified as a Solicitor in Scotland for over thirty years and has been accredited as a Specialist in Child Law for many of those. He has specialised in Child and Family Law for most of his career acting for parents, children and on occasions for Local Authorities in Scotland and further afield.

For many years Duncan has acted as a Curator Ad Litem and Child Welfare Reporter to Courts across the East Coast of Scotland and has been a Safeguarder for more than 25 years. He has been involved in training Safeguarders as well as University Lecturing earlier in his career.

He is used to instructing Counsel in the most complex cases but for many years has been appearing in Courts across Scotland dealing with straightforward cases as well as the most complex of cases including Permanence Order disputes, as well as referrals to the Sheriff from the Children’s Panel involving Shaken Baby Syndrome and children who have been very seriously harmed.

As well as training Safeguarders and Children’s Panel Members for many years Duncan has also spoken at the Family Law Association Conference, and for light relief, serves as Trustee and Vice Chair of Relationship Scotland Tayside and Fife.
