Practice Areas

Alexander is a leading UK commercial lawyer with a wide-ranging practice, including over 25 years’ experience in the music industry.

Alexander manages the commercial music team at Wiggin which advises a wide range of clients on music matters, both creators and users: record labels, music publishers, digital platforms (particularly SVOD services), music distributors, collecting societies, music financiers, computer games companies, film and TV producers, event organisers and music industry trade bodies. The team is particularly experienced in collective rights licensing in the UK and EU, and also in music catalogue finance and acquisition.

Alexander's other area of work is in the publishing sector, where he advises book publishers, magazine publishers and online publishers on a range of issues. Right now, much of Alexander's time is spent on podcasting deals.

Outside client work, Alexander sits on the Executive Committee of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers, and I’m a member of the British Literary and Artistic Copyright Association and the Society for Computers and Law. He is on the Board of the Gloucestershire-based charity The Music Works, whose work is transforming the lives of children and young people through music.
